This presentation includes no fewer than nine instruments across three countries, from the iconic 5-manual instrument in Doncaster Minster in England to the largest pipe organ in Edinburgh and the monumental Klais organ in Altenberg Cathedral, near Cologne in Germany.
You can enjoy seeing and hearing Heywood perform on the 5-manual organ in Doncaster Minster, one of the largest organs in Europe. It is no exaggerated claim that this single instrument, built in 1862 by Edmund Schulze, revolutionised the British organ and led to a complete reappraisal of the classical organ.
The 4-manual 72-stop Grand Organ in the Victoria Hall in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent is now ranked as one of the finest concert hall organs in the world after its restoration in 1988. Its array of beautiful tone colours and wide dynamic range is linked to the equally famous acoustic of the hall, highly acclaimed by many of the world’s finest orchestral conductors, instrumentalists, soloists and choirs.
